The CEO was asked about reports that Inter are in talks with Ajax goalkeeper Onana, who will be a free agent at the end of the season and has also been linked with Arsenal.

“Even if the market is currently closed, we know that director of sport Piero Ausilio is active and monitoring all the opportunities that the market offers,” Marotta told DAZN.

“He is an interesting goalkeeper, but let’s not forget we have an excellent shot-stopper already and we’re holding on tight to him.”

Marotta was also asked about the initiative to finance Inter with crowd-funding and attempts to create a Barcelona-style public shares option.

“There is certainly a great deal of affection towards these club colours and that is positive, because it means Inter will be never be alone,” he replied.

“On the other hand, we have owners who invested hundreds of millions of Euros and in the logical contraction of the market everyone had to reconsider their investments.

“However, and I want to be very clear about this, as of today Inter are perfectly calm. We can go forward without worries.

“We cannot make huge investments, but we can go on without problems. Everyone needs to find a more sustainable model of football management.

“The Zhang family invested a great deal so we can continue to win and I think we owe them respect.”
