The Rossoneri need only a point to guarantee the Scudetto, as they have a superior head-to-head record with their city rivals and a two-point advantage going into the final round.

“I am a man of sport, so I know that anything can happen in football. Today, our victory is the most necessary element, we must concentrate only on Sampdoria,” Marotta told DAZN.

“You must believe in miracles for them to happen. I would consider this title a miracle, but I still believe, I believe in our capabilities and in those of Sassuolo. We are facing a scenario where anything could happen.

“Let’s also not forget we have an opponent to face too, though we’ll keep a radio handy to listen out for news…”

Marotta was also asked about the future, especially that of Perisic, who could be making his final appearance in the Inter jersey, because his contract expires on June 30.

The Nerazzurri have offered him an extension, while Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested as a free agent.

“We need to consider both the sentiment of a director who is a fan and that of an administrator. Perisic is beyond debate when it comes to sentiment, but we need to evaluate what is within our possibilities as a club.

“We’ll do our best, I remain confident, because we both want to continue this marriage together. We’ll meet his entourage next week, I hope we can reach a positive conclusion.”

It has been reported that Inter will require more sacrifices this summer, so the sale of a big player such as Alessandro Bastoni or Denzel Dumfries.

“As with all clubs, we need to keep an eye on the balance sheet, in terms of sustainability. But we also need to think about being competitive, and I think with our capabilities we’ll be able to achieve our objectives and be very competitive.”
