Beppe Marotta refused to discuss a possible Inter return for Romelu Lukaku when speaking to a group of students today.

The Nerazzurri CEO met with a group of Sports Management post-graduate students today at the Rcs Academy in the Corriere della Sera headquarters, where he discussed the goals for this season, Italian football as a whole and which signing of his was the most important in his career.

As seen in Corriere della Sera, Marotta first highlighted how “the setback at the moment does not affect the objectives, winning the league and the Coppa Italia.”

The Inter executive also commented on how Italian football needs changes to grow, nothing that it “needs to be reformed, starting from the decision-making bodies in which Lega Serie A has a marginal weight, although it is the driving component.” He also felt that sport should “have a dedicated ministry.”

Marotta refused to discuss any possible Inter return for Lukaku, who joined Chelsea in a deal worth over €100m last summer. When asked about the Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba deals during his time at Juventus, he underlined that his most important signing was “also in terms of leadership, Pirlo.”

The chaos surrounding Chelsea has led many to believe that Lukaku could return to Inter in the upcoming summer transfer window, although this seems unlikely given the Nerazzurri’s budgetary restrictions and the Belgian’s high wages.
