“I expect a game full of danger, because Roma have a competitive squad and a high profile. I think we’ll face a great game for Italian football and believe we can continue our impressive run of results,” Marotta told DAZN.

With the countdown to Christmas, Marotta was asked if Inter will give themselves a Christmas present of new contracts for Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic?

“These dynamics are part of our schedule, we have frequent talks with them and their agents. This whole squad deserves to be confirmed at Inter, we believe it is also their desire to continue this experience with us in Serie A and the Champions League.”

Mourinho faces Inter as an opponent for the first time, after taking this club to the Treble in 2010 of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League trophies.

Former Sampdoria and Juventus chief Marotta was asked if he had ever been close to or at least approached Mourinho to lead one of his teams.

“We never crossed paths, usually he was already employed whenever I was looking for a coach too. He is a great manager who achieved many successes and trophies, while with Inter he clearly takes us back to a splendid, unforgettable year in the history of the club.”
