Inter President Beppe Marotta confirms Lautaro Martinez has ‘already signed’ a new contract, but Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa is no longer on their radar.

The striker has been in negotiations for months over the deal, which is reported to run to June 2029 with an improved salary earning him €9m per season net plus add-ons.

“It’s all done, he already signed the paperwork, but we want to make it official when he has returned from his vacation,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

Lautaro Martinez is currently taking time out after a very busy campaign, as he won the Scudetto and Supercoppa Italiana before scoring in the victorious Copa America Final for Argentina.

Marotta on Lautaro Martinez and Gudmundsson ambitions

Meanwhile, Marotta also commented on the additions to the Inter squad, as Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski arrived as free agents, plus Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez.

“We made the squad competitive for our objectives. We have an excellent coach, top level staff and great fans. This is what we are building on for the new season.”

The Nerazzurri had been in talks with Genoa for Gudmundsson, but were put off by the asking price for the Iceland international.

“He is not an option. At this moment, we have an attack full of quality and goals. At this moment, he is not what we need.”

Former Inter coach Antonio Conte has returned to Serie A for Napoli and will be expected to challenge for the Scudetto this season.

“The more strong protagonists we have in Serie A, the better. Conte is a good coach and Napoli will certainly be among the candidates for the Scudetto,” concluded Marotta.
