Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has given his complete backing to coach Simone Inzaghi after reaching the Champions League final, claiming that he will ‘100%’ still be in charge heading into next season.

Earlier in the season, there had been strong rumours that Inzaghi would be moved on at the end of the 2022-23 season, following a disappointing run in Serie A, which made Champions League qualification look unlikely.

However, in recent months, Inzaghi has turned the tide on Inter’s rollercoaster season, lifting the Nerazzurri back into the top four positions in the league table, as well as reaching the final of both the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, thanks to impressive two-legged victories over Juventus and Milan respectively.

So impressive has the turnaround of Inter’s season been, that the club hierarchy have completely changed their stance on the future of their coach, even if Marotta claims there had never been any doubt over Inzaghi’s abilities.

Speaking to Rai Italia, Marotta gave Inzaghi his full support, insisting: “This year we have never thought, not even for a second, of replacing Inzaghi.

“He managed to strengthen his position thanks to the team’s performances which are the result of his technical guidance.

“The chances of Inzaghi staying on, expressed as a percentage, is 100%. He is and will be our coach again next year.”
