“Lautaro has become increasingly confident and mature, especially for a 23-year-old, so he really has a great career ahead of him,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“Lautaro has become increasingly confident and mature, especially for a 23-year-old, so he really has a great career ahead of him,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.
“The Dortmund game showed us how much we need to improve, as we had a splendid first half and didn’t confirm it in the second. That need for consistency and maturity goes for the whole team as well as the individuals.”
Conte famously said that Inter lacked experience because they signed “players from Sassuolo and Cagliari,” referring to Stefano Sensi and Nicolò Barella, but they are sorely missed this evening.
“From the start of the season, we always talked about a new model that required constant growth. We’re seeing it in Serie A, a little less in the Champions League, but these talents can become champions by gaining that experience over time at both club and international level.
“They have the quality, it’s just a matter of patience.”
Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has made a huge impact on loan with Flamengo, scoring both goals to win the Copa Libertadores against River Plate.
Marotta seemed to confirm rumours Flamengo have not agreed terms to buy the striker on a permanent basis.
“We see Gabigol the same way as Lautaro, a player who is growing year by year. His loan ends in December, after which we’ll carefully evaluate what to do with him.
“It’s unlikely he’ll be part of our project, but he has several proposals and we’ll evaluate it all carefully along with the player.”
