“Hernanes arrived on deadline day because we heard of this opportunity to get the Brazilian and contacted the Nerazzurri directors.

“They were open to negotiations, despite the fact this operation counted as a loss for Inter’s books. The rapport between the clubs has always been good, so rumours Inter didn’t want to sell any players to Juventus were untrue.

“In fact, thanks to selling Hernanes, Inter were perhaps able to buy another couple of players.

“Inter were very active on the market this summer, but we have a core of the squad that brought great success in recent years.

“We’ve got a great squad that won everything last season except the Champions League. It’ll be tough to better the 2014-15 campaign.”
