Saturday was the perfect storm for Inter fans, as both Milan and Juventus lost, so a win here would see them become the new leaders.

“We need to follow our path, regardless of what the other results are for our opponents. Over the course of the campaign, incidents can make a difference in one or two games, but the team that wins in the long run is the most consistent,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are still a long way off the end of the season. Lazio are on excellent form, then we have Milan coming up, so we are up against two of the biggest tests we’ll face and it can give us a better idea of where we stand.

“The players must never forget the importance of wearing the jersey, but I am sure the players and staff will answer the call.”
