Mario Rui: Napoli ‘ready to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo with open arms’

Napoli and Portugal defender Mario Rui refuses to rule out Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Stadio Maradona: ‘We are ready to welcome him with open arms.’

The Portuguese striker has been linked with a move to the Stadio Maradona. Multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia and Rai, claim Jorge Mendes is working on a deal to bring CR7 to Naples and Victor Osimhen to Manchester United.

As per Rai, Napoli value Osimhen at €120m and would only get Ronaldo on loan and with the entire salary paid by the Red Devils.

Ronaldo’s compatriot Mario Rui has fuelled speculation of a possible transfer to the Stadio Maradona for the ex-Juventus striker.

“I know him well and he gives his best in environments like the one of Naples,” the left-back told Napoli’s official radio Radio Kiss Kiss.

“A player like him can do well everywhere he goes and he becomes unstoppable when he feels support from the fans. Cristiano is a legend in Portugal and like any other dressing room, we’d be ready to welcome him with open arms.”

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United a year ago, joining the Red Devils from Juventus. He scored 101 goals in 134 appearances during his three-year spell in Turin.

Osimhen has scored 30 goals in 64 appearances with Napoli and his contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2025.
