“The Etnei are a difficult team to face on their own turf, so we must have great respect. However, that does not mean fear, as it would mean starting at a disadvantage,” said the Coach.

Pasquale Marino returns to face his first Serie A club Catania this weekend and tells Genoa they need to step up their away form despite injuries.

“The Etnei are a difficult team to face on their own turf, so we must have great respect. However, that does not mean fear, as it would mean starting at a disadvantage,” said the Coach.

Marino was a player at Catania, then took charge as tactician in 2005-06, where he earned promotion from Serie B and eventually moved on in 2007.

“We need to take a step forward when it comes to our away games, although there have been recent improvements. We’ve got to find ourselves an important performance away from home too.”

There are problems for Genoa in this match, as they are without Alberto Gilardino, Luca Antonelli, Cesare Bovo and Emiliano Moretti.

Also absent are Juraj Kucka and Kevin Constant, who sit out bans.

“We’ve got to evaluate everyone’s fitness levels, especially when it comes to Miguel Veloso and Marco Rossi, as they are recovering from injuries.”
