“The team is very focused on this game,” director general Marino told Sky Sport Italia.
“We were talking to colleagues about this match, how we were becoming accustomed to preparing for big matches against important opponents, so know how to stay concentrated on what they need to do.
“It’s enormously satisfying and a reason for the club, city and everyone to be proud. This project was started with the Percassi family 16 years ago, working on the youth academy, the training facilities and culminated in this miracle of reaching the Champions League Round of 16.
“We have the utmost faith also in this coach, who has been able to get the best out of this squad. The special thing about this team is that it experiences the games with such normality and calm. We prepare during the week, not in the last 24 hours, and all those details ultimately make the difference.”
Atalanta are playing at San Siro because their Gewiss Stadium is undergoing restructuring work, having been purchased from the local council by the club.
If they qualify for the Champions League again next season, will their home fixtures be in Bergamo?
“There are too many games to go, we won’t even talk about that!”
