The father of Manchester City assistant coach Enzo Maresca went missing after the English side’s Champions League final win over Inter, reports detail.
The former midfielder, who represented West Brom, Juventus and Fiorentina in his playing career, has been part of Pep Guardiola’s coach staff at the Cityzens since June of last year, replacing Juanma Lillo.
What was supposed to be a night of celebration for Maresca and his colleagues, who watched Manchester City win their first ever Champions League title after a 1-0 victory over Inter, turned into a nightmare in Istanbul.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Maresca’s father joined him for the trip to Istanbul to watch the Champions League final, but he went missing at some point during the night. Turkish police have been informed and are now working to find the elder Maresca.
Update (13:04) – Maresca’s father Pasquale de Caro has been found safe in Istanbul, allowing the pair to celebrate the European success together.
