Enzo Maresca was the coach of Parma in Serie B this season, but is reportedly returning to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager.

The 42-year-old had broken away from the role of assistant to lead the Manchester City Under-23 squad, then took on the role of head coach at Parma in the summer of 2021.

However, that lasted only 14 games before he was fired in November 2021.

Now Sky Sport Italia report Maresca will return to Manchester City as the assistant manager to Guardiola, replacing Juanma Lillo.

He had spent most of his management career in the supporting role at Ascoli for Fulvio Fiorin, Sevilla under both Vincenzo Montella and Joaquin Caparros, then for 64 matches at West Ham United with Manuel Pellegrini.

Maresca is also well-travelled as a player, representing the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Juventus, Bologna, Fiorentina, Sevilla, Olympiacos, Malaga, Sampdoria and Palermo before hanging up his boots in 2017.
