Marcos Leonardo gives green light to Roma move

Brazilian talent Marcos Leonardo is open to joining Roma and talks will soon be opened with Santos, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Giallorossi are looking around for a new centre forward following the injury suffered by Tammy Abraham and have been closely linked to two players in particular – West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca and Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Both players are likely too expensive for Roma, so they’ve reignited their interest in Marcos Leonardo, who is still with Santos following the recent offer made by Lazio.

As highlighted by Di Marzio, Roma are serious about signing Marcos Leonardo and have received the green light from the 20-year-old, whose agent Rafaela Pimenta will meet Santos to discuss the situation in the coming days.

The Brazilian side, who set a €15m asking price on the striker, would want a replacement ready but their transfer market closes on August 2, leaving them in an awkward spot.
