Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio was unimpressed with Simone Inzaghi’s response after Inter’s Derby d’Italia defeat, believing there were more pressing concerns.

The Nerazzurri were mostly in the driving seat in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia in San Siro, seeing almost 70% of the ball, but their control did not translate into goals, allowing the Bianconeri to escape to Turin with all three points after a Filip Kostic strike.

One of the key talking points of the derby was Adrien Rabiot’s possible handball in the build-up to Juventus’ goal, a moment that infuriated Inter fans.

Speaking to Domenica Sportiva, Marchisio weighed in on the Derby d’Italia and if Rabiot did commit a handball before Kostic’s goal.

“Inter’s possession was sterile and slow. Between the lines Lautaro Martinez was missing a lot.

“For me the question isn’t that Rabiot committed not a handball, but that there was no contact at all. It’s important to look at how long it took Kostic to stop the ball and aim.

“Rabiot didn’t commit a handball in my opinion, because the ball didn’t change trajectory, nor did the spin change, so it didn’t touch his hand. I don’t know where you’d see this handball.

“The moment that should worry Inzaghi was the too slow reaction of both Dumfries and Darmian, not so much whether it was a handball or not.”

Inter have now lost nine league games this season, raising serious doubts about Inzaghi’s future at the helm.

In comparison, questions were asked about Massimiliano Allegri after Juventus’ slow start to the season, but he’s managed to right the ship in Turin and could now guide them to a top four finish, despite their 15-point deduction.
