Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio is reportedly ready to stand for election as Mayor of Turin.
The now retired midfielder did confirm last week that he was considering a move into politics.
La Stampa newspaper and Sky TG24 now suggest Marchisio is on the shortlist of the Partito Democratico (PD) centre-left party to stand as Mayor of Turin.
He has regularly spoken out on when it comes to issues of social justice, racism and helping refugees.
The election for Mayor of Turin is due to take place in October.
