Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio was left unimpressed with Brazil after their tough World Cup defeat to Croatia.

The Selecao were left heartbroken at the Education City Stadium following an incredibly tense clash with Croatia, who netted a sensational 117th minute equaliser to take the game to penalties. Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic could hardly watch as his nation edged out the win in the spot kicks, sending them to their second consecutive World Cup semi-finals.

Marchisio commented on Croatia’s unbelievable World Cup win over Brazil to RAI, highlighting what that result gives the remaining teams in the tournament.

“For Argentina it’s a great opportunity, with Brazil having exited. However, let’s not forget that Van Gaal has said he wants to win the World Cup….”

The former Juventus midfielder also commented on the clash on his Twitter page.

“Croatia wins it with collective, with luck and with heart. Brazil comes out of this World Cup as a surprise, but they have a lot to blame themselves for. They had to and could do more.

“In the next semi-final what will happen?”

Both Argentina and the Netherlands will be desperate to battle it out with Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals, setting up a tense clash between the pair. Two Serie A players are involved in the clash – Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Atalanta’s Marten de Roon.

Juventus trio Alex Sandro, Danilo and Gleison Bremer have all exited the competition and will soon return to Turin.

  1. Brasil have to accept their status as the 7/9 of WC adventures. Arrogance, self entitlement and playing Spanish 1 mph calcio back to side and so forth does not put the ball in the net. With no urgency and penetration no surprise that another European country has schooled them on tactics.Don Tite is clueless and learned nothing in his last 4 years. Like his mentor PhD Max there is no cohesion in that team. He has half of the team packed with wingers and even brought bricklayers Roberto Carlos and Cafu along, whom had no guts to step up to the spot as well. Being the name and having the canary shirt is not a right to win. Grande Croatia.

  2. Brazil’s lineup was a little disrespectful to Croatia, as they don’t have a lot of steel in the middle of the park and as the result, Casemiro got overrun by excellent workhorse like Brozovic and Kovacic, allowing Modric to set the tempo of the game.

  3. What by your fish and chip nation that plays calcio 24/7 as opposed to a country that spends less than 1% of their time towards this sport. CALMAAA!!! dumpty lets see what the pie and mash eating kittens do against France, then I will start worrying. The worst thing in the world will be to see such an arrogant nation win any tournament, second only to the bush leaguers of Europe.

  4. Smh I know she’s cognitively challenged but she still can’t understand that I don’t support England. I’ll be cheering Rabiot tonight. You can watch the ‘world’ series somewhere in Delaware or whatever.
