Claudio Marchisio and Thiago Silva reacted to Gigi Buffon’s decision to continue playing until he’s 46.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner has extended his contract with Parma until June 2024, meaning he will be playing until he is 46. Buffon and Parma President Kyle Krause announced their new deal at a press conference on Monday morning.

Buffon, a former Juventus and PSG goalkeeper, wrote a lengthy message on his social media to explain his choice, saying that he doesn’t ‘feel the weight of age.’

His former teammates Claudio Marchisio and Thiago Silva are among those who reacted on Instagram, commenting on Buffon’s post.

“Till the end doesn’t count for you,” said Marchisio.

“Until the infinite and beyond.”

Marchisio and Buffon spent several years at Juventus and with the Italy national team.

The veteran goalkeeper also played with Thiago Silva at PSG for one season. The Brazilian, a former Milan defender, joined Chelsea in 2020, while Buffon had returned to Juventus in 2019, after just one season in Paris.

“You are a phenomenon, my friend. I love you,” wrote the Brazil international.
