Federico Marchetti is close to returning to Cagliari's starting line up, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The 28-year-old hasn't played at all this season following a dispute with Cagliari President Massimo Cellino.

However, the situation appears to have cooled down now that Cellini has agreed to include a buy-out clause in his contract.

Marchetti has been playing with the Primavera of late and was even on the bench for Cagliari's game against Genoa last weekend.

The former Italy international, who stood in for Gigi Buffon at the World Cup, played a friendly for Porto Torres to prove his fitness.

It remains to be seen whether Cagliari Coach Roberto Donadoni reintegrates Marchetti ahead of Sunday's match against relegation threatened Brescia.

Juventus, Roma, Milan and Manchester City have all expressed an interest in signing Marchetti in the summer.
