Cagliari President Massimo Cellino claims Federico Marchetti can leave for Genoa thus ending a six-month nightmare for the goalkeeper.

Marchetti hasn't played at all this season for Cagliari after Cellino took issue with an interview that he gave to La Gazzetta dello Sport expressing disappointment at not getting a big move on the back of his performances in Sardinia and with Italy.

It looks as though he will join Genoa in exchange for the remaining stake in Robert Acquafresca's contract.

Genoa had co-owned the young striker, but he is now 100 per cent Cagliari's player.

"I have spoken with Genoa President Enrico Preziosi " Cellino said. "So if the player would like to, and it seems as though he would, he can go to Genoa."
