Rolando Maran felt Chievo could’ve had a penalty, but was above all concerned with their “timid” approach to Napoli.
The Partenopei swept third-placed Chievo aside 2-0 with Manolo Gabbiadini and Marek Hamsik goals.
“We could’ve been less timid, above all in the first half, as we made mistakes and allowed Napoli chances. We also could’ve hurt them, but made errors there too, and it emboldened the hosts,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The second half was better. I told the lads we couldn’t just come here and allow Napoli to dictate the match, as otherwise we had no hope.
“We were a little intimidated at the start and that is something we really should not be doing.
“Our strikers have always scored goals, so I think it’s just a coincidence that none of them have found the net this season. We need to speed the passes up and put them in a better position to score.
“We signed Jonathan De Guzman because we believe in him, he has the characteristics that we need in this team, but of course he’s been out for a while and therefore has to be slowly reintroduced to the match situation.”
Chievo had penalty appeals when Antonio Floro Flores fell while trying to go round Pepe Reina under pressure from Kalidou Koulibaly.
“Seeing the incident, Floro Flores is in front of Koulibaly and has the advantage. Obviously I’m a bit biased, but in my view the fact he’s on the ball is significant. In any case, I prefer to talk about the game and not the referee.”
