Rolando Maran said Chievo “rediscovered our spirit” against Milan and put last week’s setback behind them.
The 0-0 draw at the Bentegodi this evening followed on from an embarrassing 3-0 loss at Empoli.
“We had to rediscover the spirit we had since I arrived on this bench and to prove the defeat to Empoli was an isolated incident,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia.

“Against Milan we ran hard, worked and sacrificed for the good of the team. The lads did very well.”
Federico Mattiello, on loan from Juventus, made his first Serie A start and was very impressive at right-back.
“It was probably the area they could hurt us the most, as Schelotto pushes forward, but he too did a great job with Mattiello to cover that flank and also put many crosses in.
“We need to find more confidence when going forward. We have to make the most of our characteristics, which is high pressing to win back the ball, and we did that tonight.”
This was Chievo’s fourth 0-0 draw of the season, more than any other Serie A club.
“Schelotto and Hetemaj can run all day. These lads give their all. We work every week on being more dangerous in attack, but must be more organised when we put men in the box.”
