Diego Junior couldn’t attend his father’s funeral in Buenos Aires yesterday as he had tested positive for COVID at the beginning of November. Both him and his wife contracted the virus.

“We have symptoms and it’s not nice at all,” he wrote on Instagram on November 5.

Only a few days earlier he had shared a video with his father to celebrate his 60th birthday.

“I wish I could spend this day differently, having fun with you and forgetting about this difficult moment at least for a few hours,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Now I find myself away from you, I wish you to smile and be always happy.”

Maradona’s son has posted a few Instagram stories since his dad died on November 25.

The first one is a picture of the San Paolo where he wrote: “The captain of my heart will never die.”

Diego Junior did also shared images of Napoli players paying tribute to his dad last night.

“Love and defend [your shrt] as it was your second skin. It’s an eternal shirt, is the shirt of my dad," he wrote.
