The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona will soon also have a life-size statue of the Napoli and Argentina legend, unveiled on November 28.

The statue has been created using 3D printing techniques and donated to the city of Naples by Maradona’s friend, Stefano Ceci.

“I promised it to him the day he was named honorary citizen of Naples,” Ceci told Radio 24.

He confirmed the statue will be presented to the fans ahead of the Serie A match against Lazio on November 28.

It’ll be wheeled all the way around the athletics track to ensure everyone can view it, then find a home within the stadium.

The Stadio San Paolo was renamed the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona just days after his death in November 2020, at the age of 60.

The statue will be presented three days after the one-year anniversary of Maradona’s death from heart failure.

El Pibe de Oro wore the Napoli jersey from 1984 to 1991, making 257 appearances for the club, in which he scored 115 goals and provided 41 assists, winning two Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia, UEFA Cup and Supercoppa Italiana.
