Napoli icon Diego Maradona has suggested that he could leave Mexican side Dorados after revealing ‘I was on the verge of death’.

Dorados will spend another season in the Mexican second tier after they lost to Atletico San Luis in their Clausura Final.

However, the club’s campaign was interrupted midway through by Maradona needing surgery to stop internal bleeding.

“I’m sad for the players, not myself,” he said after the 1-0 defeat.

Marca reports the 58-year-old could step down from Dorados as he is ‘in the orbit’ of top-flight Mexican team Xolos de Tijuana and sides outside the North American country.
