However, Sportitalia claim agent Mino Raiola suddenly stepped up the wage demands from €3.5m plus bonuses to €4m plus bonuses.

It is a concern for Roma, as they need to complete sales and make a profit by the end of the financial year on June 30.

They purchased the 28-year-old for just €15m in the summer of 2014 and there is a €36m release clause in his contract.
