The Greek international was drafted in after Benatia’s sale to Bayern Munich and had two very impressive Serie A games.
“Benatia? He’s a great player, but he is the past and I am the future,” Manolas told Roma TV.
“I will work hard to replace him and help Roma have a great season. I want to give everything for the Giallorossi and I like that the players help each other out.”
Roma are top of the Serie A table with a 100 per cent record, having beaten Empoli 1-0 this evening.
“It was important to get the victory in a difficult game. Now we have our first Champions League match against CSKA Moscow and hope to get the three points there too.”
