Director Giovanni Manna reveals Victor Osimhen ‘was very clear he does not want to play for Napoli, so we made other choices’ and doubts he will go to Saudi Arabia either.

The showdown with Parma kicks off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The deadline day drama around the Nigeria international dominated the news cycle yesterday, as moves to first Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli and then Chelsea seemed to collapse.

Napoli warn Osimhen excluded himself

Speaking to DAZN before kick-off, director of sport Manna did not hold back on the problems in this situation.

“The situation is very clear, it has been since the end of last season. Victor expressed his absolute desire to not stay at Napoli, to not play for Napoli, and we tried to make him happy.

“Then there is a demand and an offer, we thought that we had concluded the negotiations, but then it did not go through. We bought Lukaku, kept Raspadori and Simeone, which was not to be taken for granted.

“At this moment, we maintain the same consistency we had since the start: he expressed the desire to no longer play for Napoli and so we made other choices.”

Is there still a possibility that Osimhen can be sold, for example to a different Saudi Pro League club?

“The transfer market is still open, there are many options, but I don’t think Victor will go to Saudi Arabia in this transfer session,” replied Manna.

Osimhen’s situation is also a huge financial weight on the club, as his sale was meant to raise funds for new transfers.

“Our ideas were clear from the start. We were waiting to sell Victor to finance these operations, but the sale did not arrive and the President took on the responsibility to invest and reboot. He took on all the risk, he was incredible.”

  1. Napoli had no intention of selling him and left him stranded. Osimhen should refuse to play for Napoli and see out his contract and leave for nothing. Teach Napoli a lesson

  2. If Napoli asked for extra after agreement, they will have a great lesson. The situation is worse than Chiesa.
Saudi’s money power has been diminished.

  3. Napoli president is an absolute disgrace. This what Osimhen gets after his contribution to the team success. I hope other players are watching to know the type of club they represent.

  4. Osimhen has been getting bad advice from his agent. Agreed that ADL can be a difficult owner. many examples. But also agree that the greed of agents has ruined many players. The whole Saudi deal smelled from the start. They agree to pay player/agent 40m a year. Then shut down the deal for an extra 5m to club? At 25 a talented, in his prime player is left out of the picture. He should see there are plenty of other options for teams. His ego, and the agents incompetence, will make his worth much less by sitting out the first half of the season. ADL won’t cave. His ego will wait them out. No matter his pay. Making Champions League will cover those costs. And the longer it goes on, Osimhens reputation will suffer.

  5. Napoli is the most useless club I had know for decades when it comes to selling a and manage players the same thing happened when kolibaly was there ,for the situation it is conte who always create problems in every clubs he go’s he did it to diego costa he saw hell n icardi and so many players, why the club president is very greedy whats is 5million Euros after agreed to a deal later you change the rhetoric now the player is frozen out of the squad, this season is that how to treat someone who has done some much for the club ungrateful club

  6. he did a lot for the club napoli but he also he was nobody till he played at napoli
napoli pay him well its not like he played for nothing
and he became big because he plaed at napoli
