Devis Mangia says he is proud to see his name linked with Genoa – but feels it is unfair on current boss Pasquale Marino.

The former Palermo tactician has been paired with the Grifone this week as rumours persist that Marino will be shown the door at the end of the season.

“Genoa are amongst the most prestigious clubs in the Italian game,” stated the former Rosanero Primavera boss to Il Corriere Mercantile.

“I’m honoured by the fact that I have been linked with them.

“However, I can assure you that I have had no contact at all with Genoa and I don’t really want to talk about such rumours.

“If I was in Marino’s shoes right now, it would annoy me that such talk was taking place and I have the maximum respect for my colleagues.”

Mangia, 37, replaced Stefano Pioli at the Stadio Barbera on the eve of the new Serie A season. However, he was axed on December 19 following a loss in the local derby against Catania.
