Maneskin’s frontman Damiano David is among the Roma fans not impressed by Daniele Chiffi’s officiating and took to social media to criticise the referee.

The Giallorossi suffered a 3-1 loss against Milan at San Siro last night and José Mourinho harshly criticised Chiffi after the match.

Mourinho: ‘I didn’t like referee or Roma performance’

“The performance was of such a low level. If you look at the two opening goals, we gave the ball away so cheaply. The quality was really lacking today. I didn’t like the referee or my team today,” the Special One said at the end of the game.

Italian media scrutinised the officiating of Chiffi and his performance was described as ‘terrifying’ by Il Corriere dello Sport that rated the official 3/10.

Italian media slam ‘terrifying’ Milan vs. Roma referee Chiffi

According to the Rome-based paper, Tammy Abraham didn’t touch the ball with his hand, so Milan should not have been awarded a spot-kick in the first half. Italian media have also questioned Chiffi’s use of red and yellow cards.

Damiano David, commonly known as ‘Damiano’, was also not impressed by the referees’ performance and did nothing to hide his disappointment.

“Chiffi, after this, you go straight to Promozione,” which is the third tier of Italy’s non-professional leagues.

Maneskin is probably the most famous Italian rock band worldwide at the moment. They won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 and averaged more than 28,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

  1. Just noise, that’s all it is. Noise.

2 hit posts and a penalty missed by Milan. Looks like the game would have had a very different outcome and Roma had 3 pts snatched from them ~

Chiffi could have even given out more yellow cards as he even let some fouls go by with a stern warning. He wasn’t perfect but to be coming down like this on him doesn’t seem right. No credit given to Milan either…oh well. 3 pts in the bag.

  2. They should stick to making songs, which they’re good at. Anyone expecting anything from Roma after that performance must be either blind or insane. Tammy touched the ball with his arm, it was clear as day. Stop making excuses for his stupidity. Unbelievable.

  3. Why is Football Italia calling this news. Haha . I liked the comment that wondered what ABBA thought of the game. BTW Roma got off lucky: At least two more clear cut Yelllows were in there And the result should have been 6-1 for Milan.

  4. GEE while Roma was not good enough the ref was extremely poor. the does affect e results in terms of player quality AC is better hence if awarded a penalty esp wrongly then thats disastrous

  5. Murinho was right about the penalties because what’s good for the goose is good for the gender but for the referee some are equal more than others 🤔.

  6. I couldn’t agree more. Vina and Ibanez escaping cards was a joke. All Roma did was commit fouls all over the pitch. I would be resentful too if my team played like that vs a Milan side not being able to call on 7-8 first choice players from the start, and then putting in that woeful performance.
