Bayern Munich were lucky to get away with a Sadio Mané handball in their Champions League clash against Inter on Tuesday and the ex-Liverpool ace justified his action by saying that ‘he could have gone to hospital.’

The incident occurred in the opening 10 minutes of the Champions League match in Germany on Tuesday.

The referee was urged to have a VAR check after Mané visibly parried a Nicolò Barella strike with his hands. The ball came towards him at full speed, so the Senegal international instinctively put both hands in front of his face.

“If I hadn’t put my hands in front of my face, I could have gone to hospital, obviously that was not a penalty,” mané told reporters in the mixed zone, as quoted by TMW.

“Inter are an excellent team, they eliminated Barcelona, meaning that they have an excellent squad.”

Last night’s defeat in Germany was painless for the Serie A giants who had already qualified for the Champions League Round of 16 with a game to spare.

Simone Inzaghi rotate his team massively knowing that the Nerazzurri could not win their group even with a victory against Bayern.

This coming Sunday, the Nerazzurri visit their arch-rivals Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A.

  1. Grande Sadio. Got to protect that ugly face. It does not matter. In the end both sides went through deservedly. Bayern are the superior club and would have finished top either way. What is more important is to focus on this Sunday. Full horse whipping coming to the village bush leaguers of Turin.
