“It was an important game for us,” Mandorlini told Rai after the game.
“We’ve secured safety in the last few games, and now we’ll try to improve our position. We were lucky at some points, but in the last 20 minutes we deserved to win.
“The penalty? I don’t think he [Rafael] even stretched his arms out, he barely touched him [Alberto Gilardino].
“Seeing it now the referee didn't have to give it, he pulls his hands back, but in real-time we can accept that being a penalty.”
Aleandro Rosi was lucky not to see red for the hosts after hauling down Luca Toni, but Mandorlini is philosophical about the incident.
“It could have been a red card there, but these incidents can go either way.”
