“We’ve lost Luca Toni and Giampaolo Pazzini, but Luca Siligardi is out too,” confessed Coach Mandorlini.
“He was struggling after the game with Inter and is in bad enough shape not to even be called up. Emil Hallfredsson is back and we’ll see whether to start him or not.
“We’re in full emergency mode. Unfortunately most of the injuries were knocks during match situations, so could hardly be avoided.
“At least this way you’ll be happy,” he told reporters. “Now Toni and Pazzini can finally play together – at cards.
“We’ve got Juanito Gomez who can play as a centre-forward if needs be. He’s a good lad and very intelligent, so wearing the captain’s armband gave him a greater sense of responsibility towards the team.
“At this moment we can’t afford to rest anyone either, but we mustn’t think about being bandaged up. There’s a game to be played and we will play it.
“Lazio are a side who can win against anyone, but at the same time leave huge spaces behind them. We want to play our game.”
Verona called up only 19 players for this match against Lazio, as they are missing Toni, Pazzini, Siligardi, Romulo, Rafael Marquez, Artur Ionita and Mohamed Salim Fares.
Francelino Matuzalem is included after signing on as a free agent.
