Inter may have to look elsewhere for a left-back after Roberto Mancini confirmed that he intends to keep Aleksandar Kolarov at Manchester City.

The attack-minded former Lazio full-back has been linked with a return to Serie A this summer in light of a frustrating 2011-12 campaign under Mancini at Eastlands.

Making just 12 appearances during the club’s run to the Premier League title, both Inter and Juventus were linked with €12m bids for the Serbian, who admitted earlier this month that he would be holding talks with his agent and Mancini about his future.

However, whether or not those discussions have taken place yet, Mancini has made clear his intention for the 26-year-old to stay in Manchester for next season.

“He’s a great defender and a great person,” Mancini told Sky Sport 24. “I’d like to keep him. Many teams want our players, which means that we have done a good job.

“I want Aleksandar to remain – I know his value.”
