“Luca Toni’s absence? [Giampaolo] Pazzini will play, who has the same qualities. Maybe Toni is a little different, Pazzini is a bit more mobile, but it doesn’t change much.”

Mancini also gave an update on the injury situation, revealing that defender Joao Miranda could be back for this game.

“Miranda is fine, he’s trained with the team and we’ll assess him tomorrow morning. [Adem] Ljajic would have come on this Sunday, but then [Jeison] Murillo was injured.

“He [Ljajic] has extraordinary technical quality, especially in games against defensive opponents. He’ll be very important in those games.

“Nobody is untouchable, and everyone is important.

“Assane Gnoukouri? He is very young, and has a lot of experience to gain, even if he’s not playing it won’t change anything, because he’s training well and that’s important.

“In January we’ll evaluate whether or not he needs more game time. Last year he played in the first team too, he’s young and he has time, he also has time to improve.”
