“We must try to improve as a team and do things properly with as few errors as possible. Whenever we conceded it has been through our mistake,” said Mancio in his Press conference.
Shaqiri completed his transfer on loan with option to buy from Bayern Munich on Friday, but don’t expect to see him in the starting XI.
“How many minutes does Shaqiri have in his legs? About three or four! I don’t think he can play, as he’s been out since December 19 and I don’t want him to get hurt.
“We have a large squad and some deserve to play, others less so. It’s normal that some will be left out, but the important thing is the victory and that players give their best. This Inter is still not close to my idea of the team.
“We want to improve, but it takes time and we will need to overcome some difficult days. I am convinced Inter will get back to challenging for the Scudetto.”
Lukas Podolski and Shaqiri were unexpected arrivals this week and they both classed Mancini as a key component in their decision.
“I told them that we are a big club and there are few like us. We have a big appeal. Perhaps others see a club in difficulty, but the new arrivals can help us get back to the top. Juan Jesus will be out for many games, so we’ll see if we can do something in defence too.”
The Nerazzurri are further weakened tomorrow by bans for Mateo Kovacic, Andrea Ranocchia and Juan Jesus.
“All the absences weigh on us, but this is the moment to prove we can play. Genoa are a very dangerous side. It will be a difficult match and to beat them we must give our all.
“Nemanja Vidic hasn’t played for a month and is not 100 per cent, but we have no other alternatives right now. Vidic is experienced and knows what he has to do, even if it’s a struggle.”
Rodrigo Palacio has not been himself for months now and could require surgery.
“It’s a shame, as he put up with so much pain and I see him looking better every day. I hope this ‘clean-up’ can be done later on.”
Daniel Osvaldo’s Inter experience appears to be over after he was frozen out of the squad for his blazing row with both Mauro Icardi and Mancini.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” added the tactician.
