Reports beginning to emerge on Sunday afternoon suggest that Roebrto Mancini could soon be appointed as head coach of the Saudi Arabia national football team following his decision to retire as Italy CT earlier in the day.

Originally reported by the Saudi-based newspaper Al-Riyadh, Mancini has an offer to become the nation’s new head coach on a three year contract.

Multiple reports elsewhere suggest that discussions will continue into the start of the week before an official proposal is presented to Mancini.

The 58-year-old unexpectedly stepped down from his position with Italy on Sunday afternoon after a five-year spell in charge of the Azzurri.

He had also recently been named as the co-ordinator for Italy’s youth teams in a move that was supposed to give him more control over the development of young players coming through the ranks.

During his time in the hot seat, Mancini had led Italy to glory at EURO 2020, but failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Previously, he has won the Coppa Italia with Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter as well as the Serie A title with the Nerazzurri, adding a Premier League trophy and an FA Cup to his CV during his time with Manchester City. He has also lifted the Turkish cup with Galatasaray.

  1. Why he would switch to the Saudi wilderness from Italy is only about one thing, MONEY! Ching Ching!

  2. I mean, recently he’d been on the receiving end of endless criticism for every decision. I get it, we all want to see the national team succeed. I’m not saying he’s free of feedback, we had lost that intensity and dynamism of the pre-Euro success somewhat. But, surely not. To leave us for Saudi Arabia?! 🥴🤔

  3. I don’t really understand its got to be money…. And why do Italian teams have success and then never build upon it… Always been the same win world cup fall away win the euros fall away…. Sad I thought more of mancini he had my respect….

  4. Thanks for the Euro’s but your stubbornness with the same old players was your down fall. The Saudis are ruining football. It’s like China all over again. Grab the cash while you can you greedy buggers.

  5. He should maybe crossover the Atlantic to MLS TorontoFC.Maasive ITALIAN POPULATION IN TO.ALSO THE TEAM IS OWNED BY MLSE,MAYBE THE BIGGEST SPORTS ENTITY IN CANADA
