Roberto Mancini

Former Italy CT Roberto Mancini is reportedly set to walk away with an enormous €20m payout after leaving his position as head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team by mutual consent on Thursday.

Mancini left his role after reaching a mutual agreement to terminate his contract on Thursday afternoon. He had been in the job for just over a year, originally signing just a few weeks after he left the Italy set-up in August 2023.

Mancini set for staggering payout after Saudi Arabia departure

According to reports form Nicolo Schirà, which has also been picked up by several outlets in the UK, Mancini will receive a €20m severance package as part of the agreement to step down as Saudi Arabia head coach.

The former CT had been earning around €30m per season on his deal with the Saudi FA, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, so the €20m pay-out fee appears to be roughly the same as what he would have been owed until the end of the 2024-25 season.

As he had originally signed a deal until the summer of 2026, the severance package means that the Saudi FA will not have to pay Mancini the €30m that he would have been owed for the 2025-26 season.
