Inter Coach Roberto Mancini says he is ‘satisfied’ with his summer signings, and believes it’s ‘important’ that Serie A sides have begun spending big again.

The former Manchester City boss reflected on the summer mercato in an interview for his official website.

“Yes, I am satisfied, given that the market is strange and you are not always able to achieve all your goals,” he said.

“We did well to complete so many deals, we’ve strengthened the team with good players. Now it is important that we put them together.

“It’s a young team and it already was last year. Inter have an excellent base for the future and, together with some more experienced players, I think we can do well.

Mancio refused to accept the suggestion that several players chose a move to Inter in order to have the chance to work with him.

“This pleases me, but I think they chose Inter because it’s a big club with a remarkable history,” he said.

“You win when you have good players and now we have them, although many have arrived in recent weeks and we need to put them together well.”

The 50-year-old was happy about gaining two consecutive wins at the start of the new Serie A campaign.

“They can help give us more confidence, but in the league the first six or seven games are always a period of adjustment,” he warned.

“It’s important to start well because it gives you confidence, but then you have to keep working hard.

“It’s important that Italian teams have begun to spend again. Although we have been taken for the team that has bought the most players, in fact I think we are at least the 14th or 15th.

“In front of Inter there are many other clubs who have bought many more players than us – even 13, 14 or 15 signings!

“Edin Dzeko for me is one of the strongest strikers in Europe. I took him to City from Wolfsburg and we did very well. Besides being a good guy, he is a great striker and he will score many goals in Italy.”
