Roberto Mancini believes that Roma may suffer for the absences in their team, but that they can still cause Manchester City some problems.

The former City manager has sat down to discuss tomorrow evening’s Champions League group stage clash at the City of Manchester Stadium.

On from considering aspects of the match to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the 49-year-old also spoke with the Corriere dello Sport and first warned of the strength of Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

“They have been a strong team for several years now and each year they always manage to improve, buying very good players,” Mancini has reflected.

“At home they always express themselves well, they are very solid – they have so much possession and they play with unpredictable players.

“Rudi can do well in the Champions League, in my opinion. I saw Roma against CSKA Moscow and I think they played very well.”

However, the Giallorossi head out to England without Daniele De Rossi and Davide Astori, whilst Juan Iturbe is only seen as likely to feature from the bench.

“Compared to the CSKA game, it seems to me that they will be without two or three major players in Manchester, who can be dangerous for Roma.

“When Roma are complete, as I saw against CSKA, they can safely compete on par with City. But, instead, now they are slightly disadvantaged, according to me.

“But in football there is nothing for granted. Roma have all the enthusiasm, this is the second year in which they are doing well and they have won everything between the League and Champions League so far. It will still be a tricky game.”
