Italy CT Roberto Mancini was ‘proud to be here’ at the Quirinale Palace and to have written ‘one of the most beautiful pages of our football history’.

The Azzurri returned from London with the trophy, as Mancini and his men were invited at the Quirinale, where the coach spoke in the presence of President Sergio Mattarella.

“We are proud to be here at the Quirinale,” Mancini said. “Thanks to the President for being our first fan, together with the many Italians who cheered us on in London, Munich, Florence and Rome.

“The country is finally celebrating again, we are satisfied that we could give them these emotions, writing one of the most beautiful pages of our football history.”

Mancini dedicated the win ‘to the Italians’ and praised tennis player Matteo Berrettini, who lost the Wimbledon Final against Novak Djokovic on Sunday.

“We dedicate the win to the Italians. Congratulations to Matteo Berrettini, we suffered with him, we are convinced that he will return to win at Wimbledon.”
