Roberto Mancini insists his contractual status at Inter is “not important”.

The Coach’s current deal expires at the end of the coming season, and Mancio was asked about the possibility of a renewal at his Press conference in Brunico.

“I don’t think it’s important,” Mancini replied.

“I have a contract for one year. The word ‘project’ is always used, but you have to figure out how long that lasts.

“It could last three or four years before you have to revitalise things, or less. Juventus took time to get back to winning even though they always had great players.

“I don’t think many ‘projects’ exist.

“I love my job and I want to do my best, the rest isn’t important. The only discomfort I feel is a small knee problem…

“What matters is the pitch. I talked to the new owners at the presentation. If I’m here it means that I want to continue.”

Mancini was then asked about the transfer market, with the arrival of the Suning Group brining links to Joao Mario and Gabriel Jesus.

“Gabriel Jesus is a prospect, he’ll become great. Joao Mario is similar to [Marcelo] Brozovic, he can play in a lot of roles.

“Will Stevan Jovetic leave? That’s not a question for me. He’s an Inter player, and he can do better in his second season. I don’t know what will happen.

“A Coach has to think about everyone, from the President to the players. I consider the base of the squad to be unsellable, and you know who they are.

“As for the rest, I’m not the person to answer that question.”

Ever Banega has arrived from Sevilla, and the tactician was asked what the new man’s role will be.

“I use the players I have available, his role is still to be defined,” Mancini admitted.

“He can be used in a number of roles, he’s a bit anarchic in a tactical sense but he has quality and he’s an international. He has character and he’ll be useful.”
