“Would Mihajlovic do well at Milan? I love him like a brother and it’d be a great opportunity for him. I’d be happy for him, as he’s a great Coach,” Mancio said in a Press conference.
“What does he have more than me? He’s younger! It’s always a pleasure for me to come back to Genoa, as those years were unforgettable and extraordinary. Inter are a piece of my life too.”
Mancini has to lift Inter’s spirits after their Europa League exit at the hands of Wolfsburg, beaten 5-2 on aggregate. Does he still think they will be Scudetto contenders next season?
“Apart from the disappointment everyone feels at elimination, clearly we have to think positive. Now we have 11 games remaining with 33 available points and anything is still possible, so we must aim to qualify for the Europa League.
“Next year we will challenge for the Scudetto and there will certainly be new elements who can help us. I repeat: we will fight for the Scudetto.
“Would I make the same choices? Nobody is infallible and mistakes were made, but we always gave our all. Nobody has a magic wand.
“I don’t want people to suggest the team isn’t giving its all. Unfortunately we make errors and pay for them.
“This work at Inter is very stimulating and I think the club will find the resources to make a competitive squad. For a few years now their position has not been the usual and this is not Inter’s DNA. With experienced players, everyone will improve.”
