Roberto Mancini warned “there are three or four teams better equipped for the Scudetto” after Inter became the new Serie A leaders.
The Nerazzurri went two points clear at the top of the table after Fiorentina and Roma were held 2-2 this weekend, but face second-placed Napoli on Monday November 30.
“There are three or four teams better equipped than us to win the Scudetto. We are happy to be up there, but there’s a long way to go this season,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium after crushing Frosinone 4-0.
“I don’t think the Napoli game will be a Scudetto crossroads. Napoli, Roma, Fiorentina and Juventus are better equipped to win the title.
“We are satisfied, it was not easy to win this game, especially 4-0. I am particularly happy for Jonathan Biabiany’s goal. He’s a lovely guy and a player who can give us a lot of quality.”
The Frenchman had spent a year out and considered retirement due to a heart arrhythmia, but made his first start and found the net this evening.
“We had to improve in terms of converting the chances we created and today more than two goals arrived. We deserved the victory and are happy.
“We ran few risks, but in the first half I had hoped to score more and be a bit more relaxed.”
Mancini tinkered with his line-up yet again, adopting a 4-2-3-1 system.
“Everyone did very well today. Mauro Icardi and Stevan Jovetic haven’t played together very often, so they need time to get to know each other better.
“The quality of Jovetic and Adem Ljajic is good for Icardi and will provide him with more service. It’ll just take a bit of time.”
The Andrea Pirlo reports refuse to go away, so are Inter trying to get the New York City FC midfielder on loan during the MLS close season?
“He is a great player who decided to have a different experience after winning everything in Italy. I haven’t spoken to him, but as far as I know he doesn’t intend to return.”
