Inter Coach Roberto Mancini affirms his faith in Geoffrey Kondogbia, despite dropping him for the Juventus match.

The French midfielder arrived at San Siro in the summer for a fee of around €40m, but was dropped in favour of Marcelo Brozovic in last Sunday’s Derby d’Italia.

“I have no doubts [about him],” Mancini assured in his Press conference ahead of the Palermo match.

“He can be on the bench sometimes, just like all the others. He did well on Wednesday [in the Trofeo Berlusconi], but if he plays tomorrow it’s not because of those 45 minutes against Milan, but because we believe he’s a great player.

“[Juventus’ Paul] Pogba has had three years to grow in Italy, Geoffrey has been here for three months and he needs time, but eventually he’ll become a great midfielder.

“We have great esteem and confidence in him, he should be calm. [Marco] Van Basten, [Michel] Platini and others had difficulties when they first came to Italy.”

It was reported this week that the Nerazzurri were looking to bring in another four players in January, but Mancini insists that hasn’t been discussed.

“[President Erick] Thohir and I haven’t talked, maybe we will later, we’ll see what the situation is in a month-and-a-half.

“Whether or not we can win the Scudetto depends on us and whether we’re good and can improve.”
