Italy coach Roberto Mancini was glad to see Federico Chiesa make his return in Juventus’ Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old Italian winger suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during a win over Roma back in January, sidelining him for over 10 months. Chiesa slowly managed his recovery this year and finally took to the pitch again earlier this week, playing 16 minutes of the loss to PSG.

Speaking via Tuttosport, Azzurri coach Mancini commented on Chiesa’s return to action, expressing his happiness.

“I’m happy that he is back, everyone has missed him. Now he needs to play and recover his condition.”

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri suggested that Chiesa wouldn’t reach full fitness until after the World Cup break, giving him a couple more months to continue building up his match fitness.

The return of the 25-year-old will give the Bianconeri a key attacking boost and may help them shake off their disappointing start to the season.

Chiesa has scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists in 62 games for Juventus.
