Raphael Varane is expected to leave Manchester United and there are reports he would favour Serie A ahead of Saudi Arabia.

The central defender is now 30 years old and his contract at Old Trafford runs until June 2025.

He was purchased from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 for €40m, but has dropped down the pecking order this season under manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite that, SunSport maintain that the coach does not want to let Varane leave in the January transfer window, preferring to wait until the end of the campaign.

A source close to the player was quoted in The Sun insisting that a departure was the best thing for all concerned.

Juventus, Inter and Roma have all been linked with Varane, and while Saudi Arabia would provide a huge salary, the source maintains “he’s also keen on Italy, as it’s a league he admires and would love to be a part of.”

The veteran has 93 senior caps under his belt for France and only represented three clubs in his career, RC Lens, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
