Manchester United still pursuing Fiorentina star Amrabat

Sofyan Amrabat arrived to start pre-season training with Fiorentina today, but reports in Morocco suggest he is close to Manchester United.

The details were extremely sparse from Moroccan journalist Izem Anass, he merely posted on Twitter that a deal was done and depicted the midfielder in a Manchester United jersey.

It is absolutely no secret that the Premier League side is interested in Amrabat, although they have so far not approached the €30m asking price.

The Morocco international also arrived today in Florence for pre-season training, as confirmed by the official Viola website.

His contract runs to June 2024, but the Tuscans do have an option to extend by another season.

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also shown interest, but nobody is so far even close to meeting Fiorentina’s demands.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, the Manchester United offer is expected to be €22-25m plus bonuses.

Amrabat turns 27 next month and helped take Morocco to the 2022 World Cup semi-final in Qatar, but the Viola refused to sell in the January transfer window.
