Reports in Italy claim Manchester United are intensifying their pursuit of Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, battling with Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham.

The centre-back has a release clause in his contract worth €58m and that would be within the reach of Manchester United, who need to strengthen their defence this summer.

According to Calciomercato.it, the Old Trafford club is stepping up negotiations to take a commanding role in the race for Bremer, who has a great deal of interest in the Premier League.

It was the defender’s 27th birthday last week and he earned his fourth senior cap for Brazil during the friendly win over England at Wembley Stadium.

Juve purchased Bremer from Torino in the summer of 2022 for €44m plus add-ons and he has made 29 competitive appearances this season, scoring two Serie A goals.

Manchester United have focused on the Italian league for transfer inspiration in recent years, including Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund and Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana.
